For night time visits the price of the ticket is:10,00€ full price; 6,00€ reduced price.

From 14th of June  to 5th of November 2006


From 14 th of June to 5th of November 2006, at Villa d’Este there will be exceptionally on display the exhibition “Sculture in Villa”  , eight original sculptures made by eight Italian contemporary artists: Lucilla Catania, Umberto Cavenago, Nedda Guidi, Luigi Mainolfi, Eliseo Mattiacci, Marcello Mondazzi, Mauro Staccioli, Giuseppe Spagnulo.
Along to the sculptures displayed in the garden, in the Cardinal apartment it will be also possible to enjoy the Profili section, where the visitor might get more information on the single artists as regards of the exhibitions issues.
“Sculture in Villa”, promoted by Soprintendenza per i Beni Architettonici e per il paesaggio del Lazio, together with Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea and organized by ATI De Luca Editori d’Arte-Mostrare is conceived by Giorgio de Marchis (progetto), Nicoletta Cardano, Maria Vittoria Marini Clarelli.
The exhibitions aims to present a sample of contemporary sculpture panorama, investigating on the permanence of plastic language in modern society. Artists belong to different generations allowing the visitor to reflect about their different solutions in shaping and treating usual and unusual materials. The wide range of works selected will interest who first approach this artistic expression as well as modern sculpture lovers, filling an invisible gap with the magnificent Villa, whose garden used to host, in the past times, the greatest example of antique sculpture, collected by Cardinal Ippolito d’Este and now lost.
The cost of the complete ticket (cumulative and indivisible, exhibit + monument) will be € 9,00. The reduced entrance will cost € 5,75.
These fees will remain standing for the duration of the exhibit, which will last until November 5th, 2006.

Inauguration of the exhibit “Fazzini a Villa d'Este”

The associated De Luca Editori d'arte and Mostrare, in collaboration with Crisalide Srl, have organized a major retrospective at Villa d'Este on Pericle Fazzini, one of Italy's most prominent sculptors of the twentieth century. The “sculptor of the wind,” as he was admiringly referred to by the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, will be celebrated with an extensive array of his most significant and representative works.
Among those on exhibit are his wood sculptures from the ‘30s and ‘40s: Figura di donna (Figure of a woman), Giovane che declama (Declaiming Youth) and Ragazzo con i Gabbiani (Boy with seagulls); the bronzes Donna nella tempesta (Woman in a storm), Profeta (Prophet), Cavallo imbizzarrito (Shying horse), as well as an overview of the sculptor's productive career that lasted through the Eighties.
The sculptures will be displayed in the lovely setting of the Villa's garden, whilst more delicate woods and drawings will be set up in the extraordinary space of the Cardinal's apartment.
The exhibit's “natural” setting is appropriate for a sculptor who was sensitive to his surroundings, as noted by Fazzini in his journal: “In space, nature's shapes deform to take shape from my imagination.”
The cost of the complete ticket (cumulative and indivisible, exhibit + monument) will be € 9,00. The reduced entrance will cost € 5,75.

Opening of the show: "ETTORE ROESLER FRANZ – A landscape painter of the late 19th century in Tivoli and Lazio".

Ettore Roesler Franz was one of the Italian painters who did the most to give Tivoli its worldwide fame. His paintings reached the United States, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Russia, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, as well as all of Italy.

On December 22, 2003, there was a commemoration of the first Centennial of the Honorary Citizenship of the Tiburtine bestowed upon the painter Ettore Roesler Franz (Roma 11/5/1845-Roma 26/3/1907).

As part of the celebration there will be the display of (among others) rare paintings (some never published) showing Villa d’Este, Tivoli and surrounding regions (Villa Adriana, the Roman Aquaducts, Mt. Gennaro, the Barco Caverns, Castel Madama, Ciciliano, the San Gregorio woods) and other scenes.

Free guided tours of the show are planned.

The price of the all inclusive ticket (show and monument) will be 9,00 €. The reduced price ticket (for qualifying visitors) will be 5,75 €.

These prices will remain in effect throughout the duration of the show, which will close September 26, 2004.

3 November 2003

Monday 8 December,  national holiday of the Immaculate Conception, the Villa will be open to the public the usual schedule of 8:30-17:00 (the ticket office closes at 16:00).     For this occasion, the weekly closing day will be moved to Tuesday 9 December.

 In occasion of the event dedicated to the"XXIIrd International Day of the Disabled", on the days of 29 e 30 November 2003  the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali  (Ministry of Culture) has declared there will be free admission for the disabled and their companions at Villa d'Este, as in all museums and archeological sites controlled by the Ministry.

In occasion of the Giornate Europee del Patrimonio  (European Heritage Days) (27 e 28 settembre) the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali (Ministry of Culture) has announced free admission at all museums, galleries, and archeological sites in Italy.  

28 September  the following related events will take place at Villa d'Este:

 - 10:00-12:00 – A promenade will depart from the cloister,  passing through the palace and garden.  The promenade will be accompanied by folksongs  sung by the “Gran Sasso” Chorale (directed by Maestro Carlo Mantini) in traditional costumes from the Abruzzo;

 - 12:15 –French and “Pizzutello” grapes  will be offered to visitors by four girls in costumes of the Tiburtina region.   This will take place beside the Fontana dell'Ovato.
 

18 June 2003

Official inauguration of the museum-quality modifications and improvements of both villa and gardens—in the presence of the Minister of Culture,  Giuliano Urbani.

Specifically, it is now possible to once more hear the sound effects of the fountains of the Organ and the Civetta (Owl), which will now be operated daily.   The restorations already completed have repaired a large part of the monument and further improvements are being carried out to bring the villa back again to being the natural stage setting for events and shows that it was in the renaissance, the period of its founding.
